TIGA (The Independent Game Developers’ Association) has unveiled its list of finalists for the upcoming 2022 Game rewards ceremony. The first in-person awards ceremony since 2019 will be held in November at Church House Westminster in London.

TIGA offers awards in many categories such as Excellence in Leadership and Best in Genres such as Casual Games and Arcade Games. The shortlist includes a number of notable entries from the mobile industry as well as nominations for top developers.

TIGA’s return to an in-person format marks the return of another major industry player to physical spaces following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. “We have had a fantastic response from industry and education to the return of the TIGA Games Industry Awards as a live event,” said TIGA CEO Dr. Richard Wilson.

Below are some key picks to watch for in the upcoming ceremony from the mobile space. Ranging from executive appointments to gaming audio and manufacturers in the mobile space.

Notable appointments

Arcade game: Beatstar (Space Ape Ltd.)

Casual game: Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (ustwo Games), Perfect Coffee 3D (Kwalee)

Audio design: A Musical History (Digerati), The Honor of Kings: Miyamoto Musashi (TiMi Studio Group)

Creativity in games: Who muted Uncle Marcus? (Wales Interactive)

Space Ape Games and Kwalee also make an appearance in the “Excellence in Leadership” category. With Space Ape co-founders Simon Hade and John Earner sharing a nomination. While Kwalee is also in the running for “editor of the year”. Space Ape Games’ inclusion on the list, “Beatstar,” also celebrated its one-year anniversary in September with 38 million total installs.
