A package full of Crash Bandicoot goodies is apparently being sent to the game’s press, and according to the YouTuber’s showcase Canadian Guy Eh, the box appears to be teasing a future announcement. She is depicted as a pizza box, and at the bottom of the so-called bill, it reads “Want more? Try our new Wumpa pizza for $12.08.” Although this seems like a random and non-specific statement on the surface, Canadian Guy Eh was quick to point out that this year’s The Game Awards are set to take place on December 8, the date of which corresponds to the listed price of the ” Wumpa Pizza”.
This teasing is what gets the most attention; unsurprisingly, as its slightly cryptic nature may tease a new project. However, the pizza bill itself has its own more direct ad. Written as invoice articles, it clearly reads, “Crash Bandicoot 4 It’s About Time is coming to Steam October 18th.” The long-awaited sequel to the iconic platformer series launched in 2020, and it was generally seen as a solid continuation of the franchise. It was released on PC in March 2021 but is only available through Activision-Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher. That is apparently about to change.
It should be noted that there is currently only one source for this tease, and that is Canadian Guy Eh. However, he went into detail about the box and showed off all the merchandise, which included a Crash-themed t-shirt, charging case, and mouse pad. All seemed official, so the chances of this being staged are slim.
There’s been a lot of buzz recently around the developers of Toys For Bob and what their next game might be. Not too long ago they teased that they had a game in development by posting a Twitter picture of their 17 games, with a ‘???’ on an 18th image and a caption that read “You know, that’s pretty handy, we have more wall space to cover…” Also, the “Wumpa pizza” seems to be a direct reference to Wumpa League, a Crash Bandicoot multiplayer game that has been talked about and rumored for over a year.
Apparently, it was a canceled add-on for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, which was later turned into its own game, then canceled. It may have been revived, as in June 2022 insider Jez Corden claimed that “a Crash Bandicoot multiplayer game with brawler mechanics” was in the works. Journalist Liam Robertson declared last year that the game was a colectathon platformer that involved collecting Wumpa and taking it to your team’s bank.
