Among Us featured in Jeopardy Game Show Clue

Popular game show Jeopardy is no stranger when it comes to referencing popular video games, but one particular conundrum has fans of Among Us smiling.

While this isn’t the first time a video game has appeared on Jeopardy, one of these recent questions likely had many fans screaming for the answer, as the question included the popular game. Among us.

Although it’s not a new game at all, it’s safe to say that the popularity of the title is still going strong. Among us first started as a mobile and PC game, but as more and more fans begged for the game to be released on other platforms, it received numerous console editions, rekindling the temptation to jump in and to save or assassinate everyone on board.

On an episode of Peril this week, all three contestants were faced with this conundrum, “Slang adjective for someone you think isn’t what they seem, especially if they might be the impostor in the game. Among us.” Fans of the hit game who tuned in that night couldn’t shout out the answer quickly enough, which is the term “sus”. Short for “suspicious”, sus is a word used to describe someone. one that the player suspects to be the impostor of Among us, a role for up to three players in a game that requires them to sabotage other teammates’ abilities to complete tasks while eliminating them one by one. The game is won by assassinating enough teammates to end the voting process due to lack of participants.

Although the word was around long before the game was introduced, it’s safe to assume that its popularity increased tenfold with the playerbase that brought it into the mainstream. It shows how, despite the game’s four-year existence in the gaming world, Among us still holds weight and stays relevant with continuous updates. Although it’s a far cry from pulling numbers like it did in September 2020, when it averaged 438,524 players, Among us again attracted over 5,000 players in April and continues to grow with multiple additions to the game. The unique gameplay style and multiplayer action still hold a special place in the hearts of players who have stuck with the game since 2018 and continue to play.

While contestant Mattea Roach seemed a little reluctant in her performance, she picked up the $600 reward on the way to winning the episode with $9,599 and answering 13 out of 14 questions correctly. Although she didn’t answer the last question of the night correctly, she only risked enough money to secure her third win in as many nights. Surely, if Peril still recreates the Gamer’s Delight category, Mattea may be in a good position to collect a large amount of money at the start of the game.

Among us is currently available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
