Can they resist the islanders?
The Boston Bruins and New York Islanders will go into action in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The series kicks off on Saturday, May 29 at 8 p.m. EST at TD Garden, as the B’s will have the advantage on the ice, originally seeded third and the Isles seeded fourth in the East.
In the eight games of these two teams during the regular season, the Isles had Boston number early on by winning the first five games. However, with the Isles losing captain and front row left winger Anders Lee, things got tough for the Islanders.
To make matters worse, the B’s added left wing Taylor Hall to the trade deadline and games moved from the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island to TD Garden in Boston. Hall and the home rink advantage were a big help to the B’s against the Isles as they lost in overtime in the first game at TD Garden, then won the next three after acquiring Hall.

If the Black and Gold can add to their most recent regular-season playoff success against the Islanders, they should easily win this series.
Boston Bruins – New York Islanders Series Prediction:
For the first time since 1983, the Bruins and Islanders come face to face in the Stanley Cup playoffs. This series saw the Isles take the win after six games as they finally beat the Edmonton Oilers for their fourth and final Stanley Cup.
This streak will likely end in B’s favor though.
The Islanders are excellent defensively but still lack a real scorer. The B’s, on the other hand, have four guys in their top six who scored at least 30 goals the previous season. So while the Islands may close one of Boston’s first two lines, they may not be able to close the other. In addition, the B’s also have a third row which can also score. While the Islanders can deploy four “balanced” lines, so can the Bruins.
What this series will really boil down to is the home rink advantage. The Isles are a much better home team than on the road, and with the B’s having the privilege of playing four of seven possible home games – including the first two of the series – they have an incredible advantage over the Isles. .
I think the B’s get off to a quick start against the Islanders and win the first two games of the series, then split the next four.
