When it was first disclosed that De La Salle (Calif.) National High School would be hosting a bobblehead party for legendary former coach Bob Ladoucer, it created a wave of excitement in the preseason football world.

RELATED: De La Salle (California) hosts a bobblehead party for legendary football coach Bob Ladoucer

It wasn’t just because a team was making a bobblehead, it was that it was a bobblehead from Ladoucer, who honestly feels like one of the least suitable coaches imaginable.

So when the bobbleheads officially arrived in the last days of September, they were greeted with enthusiasm and still a little disbelief.

Indeed, there is no turning back now: the bobbleheads will be handed out on Friday in De La Salle’s return match.

Many have wondered how to get one of the limited edition memorabilia. The only answer so far is to show up at De La Salle on Friday before the game against the high school in Monte Vista (Calif.). The program has produced around 1,000 figurines, but some are selected and distributed to program members or others who have special rights.

That leaves less than 1,000 spectators for the game, with well over 1,000 fans desperate to get their hands on one.

Better to take them early.

China joins COVAX alliance for coronavirus vaccine https://www.crosskeystennis.com/china-joins-covax-alliance-for-coronavirus-vaccine/ Mon, 29 Mar 2021 01:37:05 +0000 https://www.crosskeystennis.com/china-joins-covax-alliance-for-coronavirus-vaccine/ TAIPEI, TAIWAN – China, which has at least four candidate coronavirus vaccines in the final stage of clinical trials, said on Friday it was joining an international initiative to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to countries around the world known as COVAX, a move that could help the country find an international market for its coronavirus vaccines. TAIPEI, TAIWAN – China, which has at least four candidate coronavirus vaccines in the final stage of clinical trials, said on Friday it was joining an international initiative to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to countries around the world known as COVAX, a move that could help the country find an international market for its coronavirus vaccines.

The country on Thursday signed an agreement with Gavi, the co-leader of the project, the Chinese foreign ministry said. China initially did not agree to join the alliance, after missing an early deadline to join in September.

“We are taking this concrete step to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines, especially in developing countries, and hope more capable countries will join and support COVAX as well,” ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement. . She later added during a daily press briefing that many Chinese vaccine companies have expressed willingness to join the partnership and that China would purchase vaccines for around 1% of its population through COVAX.

The exact terms of the deal and China’s contribution are not yet clear. Countries can choose to purchase vaccines to cover up to 50% of their population, but many developed countries use COVAX as a type of insurance policy to secure additional doses on top of any bilateral agreements signed with pharmaceutical companies. .

Chinese leader Xi Jinping previously said the country would make the vaccine a global public good and distribute its vaccines in Africa – but only after the completion of China’s own immunization program.

The World Health Organization, which also heads COVAX, welcomed the announcement, saying in a statement that “the number of countries joining the COVAX facility is increasing every day, and we are delighted to see China there. officially join “.

The initiative is designed to get richer countries to agree to purchase potential vaccines and help finance access for the poorest, but critical questions remain as to how its goal will be achieved. Many countries, including Britain, the United States, France, Germany and others, have directly negotiated their own deals with pharmaceutical companies to receive billions of doses, meaning that the vast majority of the world’s vaccine supply next year is already booked.

Some experts point out that without major efforts to rapidly increase manufacturing capacity globally, Chinese vaccine producers could offer the best chance of supplying the developing world. China’s decision to join COVAX could give the country the opportunity to sign multi-million dollar deals that Gavi and its partners will have to make to secure billions of doses of the vaccine.

The United States, the world’s largest economy, refused to join President Donald Trump, saying COVAX was “influenced by the corrupt WHO and China.” China has the second largest economy in the world.

“China’s membership in COVAX has the dual purpose of filling the leadership vacuum left by the United States in terms of global public health and securing a future vaccine for its population,” said Natasha Kassam, researcher at Lowy Institute of Australia.

A successful vaccine candidate from China could help it repair its reputation abroad. A recent survey by the Pew Research Center found that negative opinions about China rose sharply in 2020 in some countries. Opinions in democratic countries have hardened after the discovery of the coronavirus outbreak in the central city of Wuhan in China, and a majority of those polled said China had mismanaged the outbreak. Many have criticized China for obscuring early reports of COVID-19.

China was quick to reshape the narrative, calling the virus a common challenge to humanity and even questioning its origin. Previously, as the pandemic spread around the world, it sent medical teams and supplies to affected countries. Most recently, it signed agreements with developing countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines to provide priority access to one of its vaccine candidates and offered a $ 1 billion loan to Latin American countries. .

What remains to be seen is how China will engage in the alliance, said Dr Gagandeep Kang, vice chairman of the board of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, or CEPI, which is also involved. in the direction of COVAX. Most countries are entering COVAX to try to gain access to vaccines that are not manufactured in the country, she said.

China could try to ensure that the vaccines it is developing find a global platform. “For China, it could be across the spectrum. For their vaccines to participate in vaccine delivery (to other countries) and access to vaccines,” said Kang, who is also a microbiologist at Christian Medical. Indian city college. by Vellore.

Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac, for example, recently said it wanted to supply its vaccine to the world, including the United States and European countries with strict regulations that prevented the sale of previous Chinese vaccines.

COVAX plans to purchase 2 billion doses of a vaccine by the end of 2021, although it is not known whether the successful vaccine will require one or two doses.

To date, China has yet to release any late-stage information on any of its vaccine candidates, although it has started to use them more widely in target populations. Without these data, it is not clear how safe and effective the investigational Chinese vaccines are.

At this point in the series, it’s time to talk about masculinity. The obvious emphasis of Transparent has been on the definition of a “woman”, through the eyes of Mort, now Maura. But in light of this transition, what does it mean to “be a man”?

A few episodes ago Josh told his sister’s friend / sometimes lover Syd that being seduced by his 25 year old babysitter at the age of 15 was “every boy’s wet dream” and said how cool the experience was. But in the times we’ve been alone with Josh, we as audiences know Josh never got over his rape. I call his “relationship” with Rita a “rape” because that’s what it was: a statutory rape of a minor by someone in a position of power who should have known better. As Syd had tried to explain, if the genders had been reversed and an adult caring for an underage girl took advantage of her, he would be in jail or, at the very least, her parents would not. not passively tolerated what was happening.

But Josh is a man, and obviously men want sex all the time and boys drool over older women – tropes that are born out of patriarchy and gender norms, and screw up our young men. To each other, they boast and brag about conquests and sexual escapes, and there is no discussion of feelings. To be reluctant or hesitant. To be children. This is how patriarchy also fails men. Josh, and the ignorance, especially his own, surrounding his rape is a prime example. For Josh, being a man means fucking pretty women and never stopping to mourn what happened to him. Men are not seen as victims in society, so Josh reframe his assault as a victory. For him, it is to be a man. This is of the utmost importance to Josh, otherwise he will have to admit that a bad thing has happened to him. And now his own father rejects manhood. Josh is not going to take it well.

Although Maura has yet to meet him in person, Josh visits her at Shangri-La to ask him for money to sell the house in order to start his own label. On the way up he is called out by an older transgender couple and becomes noticeably uncomfortable. Inside, he notices his rather modest dress and his father’s hair pulled back and is relieved. Yes, her father wears nail polish, but he tells Maura that her sisters made their father appear to be “parading in a robe.” “You look quite normal,” he said, calming himself down, ignoring Maura’s feelings. “Everything people do behind closed doors” suits him well.

Maura repeats the last two words, undoes her hair and lets it flow. Josh apologizes for going to the bathroom and takes his father’s makeup table, the foundations, the blush, the wigs. Oh. OH. Maura says yes to the money but warns Josh not to tell his sisters about it.

What Josh tells his sisters is that he thinks their father is “losing his mind.” He has WebMDed symptoms and he thinks Maura has dementia. He also claims that she just wants to be the center of attention. “Do you think it’s real?” He asks, and Sara and Ali say they do.

“It just means we all have to start over,” Ali replies. For example, she will go back to school to study Women and Gender Studies. Her siblings laugh at her for her fleeting interests. Nothing Ali does is taken seriously. Sara throws game balls at him and Josh laughs. Josh and Sara can be a mean team.

Flashback to 1994, Shelley and Mort bask in their house on “Sexy Sunday,” which I guess is the day the kids are out of the house and they can do it. They want to try something new. Mort suggests he wear his wife’s underpants because it’s going to be naughty. She’s in there and they make a lovely couple. Where did they go wrong?

Ali speaks fondly to Maura about studying women and gender studies, and says that she is the inspiration for her to find structure and study gender, a subject that has always interested her. Maura tries to understand by saying that she has seen herself a lot. in Ali’s “gender confusion” when she was a tomboy as a child. “Some people say it runs in the blood,” cooed Maura. Ali doesn’t like it. Maura gives him the money to go back to school and tells him not to tell his siblings. Uh, wow. Where will all this money come from?

In the old house, Sara explains Grandpa’s new look to her children. Her daughter says people can change if they are magical and asks, “Is grandpa magical? Sara tries to say she is, but Tammy wants to give the kids a real answer. The girl is not interested: “Will Grandpa have pretty hair when he comes?” she asks, because this little girl knows that what really matters is pretty hair.

Ali, meanwhile, is auditing a feminism class with Syd. It is taught by Celeste (Jill Soloway), a teacher that Syd used to sleep with. Syd is bi now too? I want WE ARE ALL SYD on a fucking T-shirt. Celeste preaches how the man is afraid of the woman because he asks, “Why is she bleeding and not dying?” and she names feminist icons like Bell Hooks and Audre Lorde. At one point, she calls the exclamation marks “petty rapes”.

“Have you ever been raped by an exclamation mark?” Syd asks Ali. Ali replies that she was gang raped with an exclamation point, question mark and semicolon. I don’t like it because like I just said when talking about Josh’s assault, I’m not speaking up grated slightly. Maybe I am a square.

The class’s tech assistant is a mountain dweller named Dale (Ian Harvie) and Ali wonders why “Paul Bunyan” is teaching a women’s studies class. The answer? He’s trans. Ali walks up, flirts a bit and talks about his father. Everyone is about to have a crush on Ian Harvie. Damn, I have a crush on Ian Harvie.

Dale explains that he is a “man with a vagina” and complains about what men talk about when they think a woman is not there. “I’m a double agent,” he says. Ali says he is “gender aware”. She wants to ask him a million questions. Now it’s Dale’s turn to be confused. He assumed Ali was a lesbian. She is dismayed that he thought she was so “boring”, although politically she is “basically a lesbian”. Dale says he’s generally attracted to super-feminine women. Ali looks a little disappointed.

In a flashback, Marcie and Maura are dating for the first time and Maura is so excited to talk to people as a woman that she accosts a guy in the hallway. She is dizzy. At lunch, the couple examine a brochure for a transvestite camp called “Camp Camellia,” but Maura can’t go because it’s the same weekend that her daughter’s bat mitzvah. When the waitress leaves their food and says, “Have fun, ladies!” Maura and Marcie look like it’s Christmas morning.

In 2014 Josh is alone and nervous, recalling what Syd said about he can’t be alone. He Google searches “transvestite”, but it is not enough. He goes to a cam site and searches for trans cam girls. He finds one but instead of cybersex he wants answers. He asks when she found out she was trans. She replies: “I am all woman and I have the cock to prove it.” Josh closes the laptop. He panics.

For Shabbat dinner, Maura and Davina go to Maura’s former home, which is now the official castle of Lesbianica. Davina can’t believe Maura has left such a beautiful house, but Maura snaps, “Nobody wants to live in the Palisades. They hunt our species with a stick. They only recently started letting the Jews in. Sara’s children run in and hug their grandfather, telling Maura that Sara said she was magical.

Josh, of course, heads to where the nearest vagina is and attends Rabbi Raquel’s Friday night service. He says he wanted to show her that he wasn’t crazy and she shows him around the synagogue. In a symbolic gesture, Josh enters the “mikvah” or empty purifying bath. The mikvah is a big problem in Judaism; this is where people can go for a ritual immersion and to get rid of the impurities of the past. With Raquel, Josh is sitting in the mikvah and they explain that it may be too late for her to ever have children. She says she’s probably been with the wrong person for too long and her successful years are behind her. They sit next to each other in the empty bath, confessing their sins and asking each other to be cleansed.

At Shabbat dinner, Maura assumes the matriarchal role of lighting the candles and saying the blessing. It’s the first time we’ve really seen Tambor play Maura “at ease”. She’s joking and being cute, announcing that she and Davina are doing a duet at the LGBT center and won’t Sara come and see him, please?

Then Len arrives and is pissed off that the kids see Mort as Maura. “I’m about to get in a car with two young children and I would like to know what they know about it,” he said, exasperated. Sara says she and Tammy talked to the kids, but Len wanted to be a part of that conversation. In a shrill voice, he mocks Maura: “Would you, ladies, have been more comfortable if you lived on an all-female planet?” Maybe you could go aboard a womb-shaped spaceship? Tammy, because she rules, is like, “Uh, yeah.” He grabs a knife and threatens to cut off her cock.

Maura stands up and gives a soothing speech to Len: “I should have called you. Honey, I should have taken you to lunch and we should have talked but I didn’t and I’m sorry for Death and Maura and him and her. I’m just one person and you’re just one person and here we are. Baby, you gotta get in that hot tub or you gotta get out. Len stops, apologizes and leaves. I don’t quite understand Len. I should feel bad for him. He has been deceived and his children are in this situation which is beyond his control. But right now he just feels like an intruder. He doesn’t fit, and maybe he should get out of the whirlpool.

After dinner Sara and Maura smoke cigarettes and talk about nail polish by the pool. Sara is worried about her children, finally. Maybe his crazy selfishness affects some of them? I do not know. Do you think, Sara ?! Maura asks if she only remembers the bad things from her childhood, but Sara says, “Everything is mixed in with the good things.” Maura is relieved. She decides to give the house to Sara and Tammy and tells Sara not to tell Ali and Josh.

In one episode, he promised the house to his three children. This hot tub is getting way too big.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made his first public appearance in 20 days as he celebrated the completion of a fertilizer plant near Pyongyang, state media said on Saturday, ending an absence that had sparked worldwide rumors that he could be seriously ill.

The official North Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim attended the ceremony in Sunchon on Friday with other senior officials, including her sister Kim Yo Jong, who many analysts said would take over if her brother was suddenly unable to govern.

The official Rodong Sinmun newspaper published several photos of Kim dressed in black and smiling as he looked around the factory and cut a red ribbon, her sister looking from behind. Apparently thousands of workers, many masked, lined up outside the huge complex, releasing balloons into the air.

This was Kim’s first public appearance since April 11, when he chaired a meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party to discuss the coronavirus and re-elect his sister as an alternate member of the powerful decision-making political bureau of the Central Committee. party. This decision confirmed his important role in government.

Speculation about his health swirled after he missed his late grandfather Kim Il Sung’s birthday celebration on April 15, the country’s most important holiday, for the first time since taking power in 2011.

The possibility of high-level instability has raised troubling questions about the future of the secret, nuclear-weapon state that regularly builds an arsenal intended to threaten the Americas while diplomacy between Kim and the President Donald Trump is at a standstill.

Some experts say South Korea, along with its regional neighbors and ally Washington, must start preparing for the possible chaos that could arise if Kim is sidelined by health concerns or even dies. Worst-case scenarios include North Korean refugees flooding South Korea or China, or hardliners dropping nuclear weapons.

Following a series of unusually provocative missile and nuclear tests in 2017, Kim used the Winter Olympics in South Korea to begin negotiations with Washington and Seoul in 2018. This led to a surprising series of summits, including three between Kim and Trump.

But negotiations have collapsed in recent months over disagreements over the exchange of sanctions relief and disarmament measures, which has raised doubts as to whether Kim would ever completely dispose of an arsenal that he probably considers his best guarantee of survival.

Kim entered 2020 promising to build up his nuclear stockpile and defeat sanctions through economic “self-sufficiency.” Some experts say the North’s self-imposed lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis could potentially hamper its ability to mobilize people for work.

KCNA said workers at the fertilizer factory gave “thunderous cheers” for Kim, who it says is leading the nation in a struggle to build a self-sustaining economy in the face of “headwinds” from “hostile forces. “.

The report does not mention any direct comments towards Washington or Seoul.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump declined to comment on Kim’s reappearance, but said he “would have something to say about it at the appropriate time.”

State media reported that Kim was carrying out routine activities out of the public eye, such as sending greetings to the Syrian, Cuban and South African leaders and expressing his gratitude to the workers who are building tourist facilities in the coastal city of Wonsan, where some have assumed he was staying.

The South Korean government, which has a mixed record in following up Pyongyang’s ruling elite, has repeatedly downplayed speculation that Kim, who is believed to be 36, was in poor health after surgery.

President Moon Jae-in’s office said it had detected no unusual signs in North Korea or any emergency response from his ruling party, military and cabinet. Seoul said he believed Kim was still running state affairs but was staying in an unspecified location outside of Pyongyang.

The cause of Kim’s absence for the past few weeks was not immediately clear. In 2014, Kim disappeared from the public eye for almost six weeks, then reappeared with a cane. The South Korean spy agency said he had a cyst removed from his ankle.

Analysts say his health could become a growing factor in the years to come: he is overweight, smokes and drinks, and has a family history of heart problems.

If he is suddenly unable to rule, some analysts have said his sister will be installed as head of the hereditary Pyongyang dynasty that began after World War II.

But others wonder if key members of North Korea’s elite, mostly men in their sixties and sixties, would find it difficult to accept an untested young leader who lacks military degrees. Some predict collective leadership or violent power struggles.

For years, governments and the outside media have grappled with information about Pyongyang’s secret ruling elite.

South Korean newspapers reported in 1986 that Kim’s grandfather died after a military official in Seoul said that North Korea announced the disappearance of its founder over loudspeakers at the border littered with mines between rival nations. But a few hours later, Kim Il Sung appeared at Pyongyang airport to welcome a Mongolian delegation.

Kim Jong Un’s father, Kim Jong Il, has also been the subject of countless reports and rumors about his death. When this happened in December 2011, after years of deteriorating health and dwindling public appearances, the outside world had no idea until northern state media reported two days later.

WEST BABYLON, New York (WABC) – Police arrested a man after they nearly ran over three young demonstrators in West Babylon on Tuesday night.

The incident happened at 6:40 p.m. outside 7-11 on Little East Neck Road.

Aiyannah Antoine, 18, Scarlet Lara, 16, and Kaila Espinal, 17, said they were protesting with signs and chanting “Black lives matter!”

They said a man in a truck stopped and yelled at them as he entered the 7-11.

“He comes out and starts shouting, ‘White life matters. You don’t belong here. Get out of my neighborhood,'” Lara told Eyewitness News reporter Kristin Thorne.

All three girls said when the man got out of 7-11 he kept yelling at them, got in his car, stopped next to them and stopped and yelled at them through the window on the passenger side.

“Then we said, ‘All lives don’t matter, until black lives matter’ and that’s what really made him angry and he got in his car and he started to roll towards us, ”said Antoine.
The girls said they heard the car backing up, then rushed onto the sidewalk, nearly hitting Lara who must have jumped out of the way.

“All I can feel is a great fear in me because this big truck almost suddenly hit me,” said Lara. “It was so scary.”

Espinal captured the incident on his Snapchat.

“I am disgusted,” she said.

Tamie Elie, Espinal’s mother, said: “I cannot believe as a parent that a man who is clearly old enough to be their father or even grandfather would see three young girls and react like that.”

“I am very disappointed that it is taking so long when we have so much information,” Elie said.

A spokesperson for the Suffolk Police Department told Eyewitness News the incident is still under investigation.

Earlier today, we told you that Bella Hadid was revealed as the star of Jacquemus’ SS20 campaign, in a series of quintessentially happy and cute images captured via FaceTime. Now it has been revealed that she is not alone.

Joining her as the face of the French label for the summer season is none other than everyone’s favorite fictional cam girl, Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreira.

Captured once again via video chat by the photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, the former Dazed 100er is seen in a series of key Simon styles, including a knitted bikini, semi-sheer shirt, and buttermilk-yellow pleated dress, as well as the designer’s now-legendary XXXL wide-brimmed hat.

With Jacquemus widely known for sending incredibly long and thin models to the catwalks in the past seasons, the inclusion of Barbie in its new campaign is a welcome step towards a bit more body diversity on the brand’s part, and follows her fall / winter 2020 show, when the rise of “plus size” model Jill Kortleve was walking.

Given that the same season, we also saw Paloma Elsesser become the first plus-size model to walk for Fendi, and Kortleve make a new appearance at Chanel, we hope that whatever fashion looks like in the not-so-future future. far away there will be many more opportunities for girls like Barbie to harmoniously join girls like Bella on the catwalk.

REXBURG – A former Brigham Young University-Idaho student was convicted of a sex crime on Monday after he hid cam and recorded women in the bathroom of their apartment.

Devan MacCabe, 23, was incarcerated at Madison County Jail on January 20 on one count of video voyeurism. The man from Salem, Utah, pleaded guilty to the charge in April.

During Monday’s sentencing hearing, Madison County Assistant District Attorney Rob Wood recommended MacCabe serve a two to five year probation period.

“He should at least have the chance to be on probation, get treatment and see if he can pass,” Wood said.

MacCabe defense attorney James Archibald has requested probation for his client and pointed out that his client has already requested treatment while awaiting conviction.

“We ask the court not to force him to register as a sex offender,” Archibald said.

There was a debate about the actual number of victims in the case.

Judge Gregory Moeller suggested there were six victims because six women lived in the apartment.

Archibald argued that there was only one woman filmed undressed for ten seconds. Another was recorded while using the restroom, but Archibald said she should not be considered a victim.

MacCabe spoke at the sentencing hearing and said he had started a piano tuning business since his arrest. He spoke about being addicted to pornography and other difficulties he encountered.

“Throughout my life, I’ve always spent every minute of every day doing whatever I can to do the best I can with my life,” MacCabe said.

Moeller addressed the issues uncovered in MacCabe’s polygraph test which revealed a history of voyeurism.

According to a pre-sentence report, MacCabe admitted to having, on another occasion, planted a GoPro camera in a closet in the same apartment and recorded a woman undressing.

In another voyeuristic act, MacCabe admitted to watching a woman shower without his knowledge.

Moeller also responded to concerns that MacCabe initially blamed the apartment complex’s maintenance man for the hidden camera.

“Initially, you were playing with the conclusion from the roommates that someone else must be to blame because they knew your ‘character’ and knew you weren’t capable of that,” Moeller said. “They looked at the SD card and found that there were pictures of you there suggesting it was your SD card. You manipulated these six girls into wanting to blame a man from maintenance of the apartment complex for what you had done.

WATCH: JUDGE GREGORY MOELLER SPEAKS TO MACCABE DURING COURT PROCEEDINGS

Moeller ended up giving MacCabe a two to five year conditional sentence with five years of supervised sex offender probation. He can’t own anything with a camera or anything that connects to the internet.

“No smartphone with you,” Moeller told MacCabe.

MacCabe was ordered to pay various fines and reimburse the costs of victim counseling services.

He will also serve sixty days in the Madison County Jail with credit for ten days served. MacCabe won’t have to register as a sex offender because Idaho law does not allow first-time voyeuristic offenders to register.

Police say the camera MacCabe admitted to installing is similar to this one.

Let me ask you a question. Is this photo real or fake? This can be a difficult question because the answer depends on what you define as real or false.

Where is the line and who draws it?

First, there’s no denying that post-production (or post-processing) is an essential part of a photographer’s workflow today, especially if you’re shooting RAW. Between RAW and the final output like JPG or PNG, we usually adjust a number of parameters in photo editing software like color temperature, exposure, vibration and saturation etc.

These adjustments can probably be seen as an “improvement” (if not made excessively) rather than a “manipulation”, but where do you draw the line? Or who draw the line? In photo editing, there is no manual that dictates the rules, so the line that defines right and wrong becomes quite blurry.

Personally, I like to keep post-production to a minimum, but that’s just my style, and of course, I respect others who pursue their own style. That said, some tend to go too far (intentionally or not), which makes their photos look more like digital art. I’m sure you’ve seen such sunset or blue hour photos that are too vibrant and look rather unreal.

Adobe Photoshop’s new photographic cheat

And here’s Adobe Photoshop (among others) actively playing a role in yet another photographic cheat. Yes I’m talking about the infamous AI powered sky replacement tool.

I actually used this sky replacement tool (plus a few tweaks) to create the photo at the top. So the answer to my question is “wrong” (or you could say “quite wrong”). Here you can see the “before and after” versions.

Chatan (Okinawa, Japan) “before” photo
After, with the replacement of the sky applied

I’m not denying that the “after” version sounds a lot more interesting, but how funny is it?

For me, a tool like this takes away the fun of photography. We don’t know what kind of sky we’re going to have until we head to a place. Depending on the weather, we may have unwanted skies, but it is only an integral part of the photography that we should adopt.

Sky’s replacement brings controversy to photography

Among photographers, the subject of image manipulation has long been a controversial topic, but it seems that the replacement of the sky has sparked a wider debate within the photographic community.

My good friend Daniel from Sydney, Australia recently posted a podcast episode called “What does this mean for the future of photography?“, speaking on the same subject (about 7 minutes):

In the episode, Daniel says we should be frank about using such a tool and try not to pass off the sky-replaced images as those taken behind closed doors. I share his opinion because such an act is (1) ethically incorrect and (2) these photos are no longer yours when you manipulate them to this point.

We can pass for a purist, but there is also a consequence to face. In recent years, we have seen an increasing number of photography competition winners be retrospectively disqualified and stripped of their prices Due to excessive manipulation of the exposed image. This tells us that these images are not considered “photography”.

Cases in which the replacement of Sky is used for good causes

That said, we understand that Adobe Photoshop isn’t just for landscape photography enthusiasts and enthusiasts.

For example, replacing the sky should be useful for real estate photographers and wedding photographers.

A pre-wedding photoshoot is something you cannot change the date booked for even if the weather is not ideal. A sky replacement tool could be a savior on such occasions, and I doubt any customers will complain that the beautiful sky is wrong.

A pre-wedding photo shoot on a clear day. You might not be lucky over time, but replacing the sky can save the day!

The era of the #realphotography hashtag?

So we come to the end of the post. You may be wondering what follows replacing the sky. I guess the next step will be some false reflections on the water. Even today, we can do this in Photoshop using a layer mask, etc., but of course I’m talking about an AI-based method that requires a single click.

In the near future, we may enter an era where photographers tag their photos #realphotography in order to differentiate themselves from digital artists masquerading as photographers.

In a way, we are living in an interesting time in history. Together, let’s see how the future of photography and photo editing software will unfold in the years to come!

What fucking girl Lily?

Season 1

Episode 3

Editor’s Note

4 stars

Before the final scene of “What Lily Girl?” unfolded, I was ready to categorize this episode as mostly filling awesome, very enjoyable way to spend 27 minutes in the groove High fidelity established for its viewers, but not much else. Next, Debbie Harry appeared on screen, enjoying a tall glass of red, offering romantic advice and strolling around Rob’s living room to an early version of “Heart of Glass” while wearing a motorcycle jacket style jumpsuit. in black satin. Is there a multisyllabic German word for hootering for joy while starting to suspect that the protagonist of your show is completely hallucinating?

Throughout the episode, Rob goes on to feel better, with mixed results. Cam walks past the store, apparently to sell a bunch of records, but really to provide Mac updates and brotherly advice. It turns out that Mac and Lily have been together for almost a year and they live together. And maybe they’ll get engaged. Weft.

Before Rob can settle into a full spin, Cam reminds her that obsessing too long and too deeply about failed relationships is an unhealthy and long-standing role model for her: whispering to yourself what was wrong. not. Couldn’t Rob find something else to focus his energies on? Well, certainly. Did Cam intend for Rob to focus on Mac’s Instagram account? Probably not, but that’s where Simon finds her next, locked in his office, sneaking a cigarette and scrolling endlessly.

What Simon doesn’t know is that while searching for his pack of cigarettes, Rob first sees the little red jewelry box with the engagement ring from “Track 2” in his desk drawer. Wait what? At second glance, it’s cigarettes. But we all saw the little red box that wasn’t really there.

Simon’s streak as a supporting A + friend continues uninterrupted as he offers to scroll through Lily’s own Instagram to save Rob from agony. Lily’s aesthetic is “all dogs, sunsets, flowers and cocktails”. What does Lily look like herself? No selfies? The year of our Beyoncé 2020? Isn’t appearing in your own Insta a new kind of flex now?

No time to think about this, because Cherise arrives with a red alert: “Scottish singer Liam is in the fucking store!” Liam (Thomas Doherty) impresses Simon (okay, and me too) with his knowledge of legendary Brazilian band Os Mutantes, then invites the trio to his show that night, gently offering to put them on the list.

Rob does monologues about not going out, then sees frosé, Lily’s favorite drink, offered at a brunch on the way home. Damn, this is delicious, but the next thing she suddenly knows, every word she hears and sees is “Lily”. It’s like this scene in Being John Malkovich where Malkovich enters his own brain and all anyone can say is Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich. It’s hallucination number two, and Rob knows she’s doing badly.

The remainder of the episode is devoted to more enjoyable outings and witty banter between Rob, Liam, Cherise and Simon. Sadly, Liam turns out barely out of high school, so that’s the end of this flirtation, but their brief acquaintance made Rob think more about Simon’s relationship theory. She also identifies a key question from his breakup with Mac: How could he have loved Lily, a seemingly simple person, after loving her, a very complicated person?

The next day, Simon shielded Rob from his worst impulses by doing some forensic research on Instagram to find a photo of Lily, her and Mac’s housewarming party a few weeks ago. Oh. This is real friendship. Rob claims to feel better, but later the Fourth Wall says that she really doesn’t and doesn’t understand why she never manages to better deal with her feelings about the end of a romantic relationship.

So Rob makes the completely normal, healthy decision to call her seventh year first boyfriend’s old phone number to ask what he thought was wrong with her. It turns out that Kevin Bannister married Hannah Shepherd. Rob rejoices at the news, proclaiming “I’m fine!” It had nothing to do with me, it was fate! Then it’s time to contact all of her Top Five Heartbreak exes, so she can get their take on why these relationships ended.

This episode opened with Rob and Cam having an affectionate feud as Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” played. It now ends with “Once I Had A Love,” an earlier, less shimmering version of the same song, and with an appearance by Debbie Harry, wearing the aforementioned jumpsuit. Is this another cry to Chip bag? It works!

As fairy godmother Debbie Harry dreamily dances to her own song, which is about the illusory nature of romantic love, she keeps Yes, And-ing Rob’s plan to contact her exes. The process will “heal that little glass heart”, and although “maybe [the exes] won’t feel so good, [Rob] will feel Great. Better yet, it will give Rob the opportunity to ‘break the pattern of grief and release [her]self!”

1) Song from the episode: Debbie Harry’s lyrical assessment that love can literally make you lose control of reality – “Once I had a love and it was divine / I soon found out that I was losing my mind “- might have been a bit on the nose for this episode, but somehow her on-screen appearance makes for something both delicious and somewhat heartbreaking . Rob is not doing well.

2) Seriously, if you haven’t listened to Os Mutantes, please do! Brazilian psych-rock is a real treat for your ears.

3) We never see Lily in the episode that bears her name. Will we find her later, or will she be a phantom presence, à la Maris Crane?
