With the recent announcement of a wonder woman game, DC fans have yet another project to look forward to, with a burgeoning list of upcoming titles already revealed for 2022 and beyond. Of the seven announced DC games, most have a set release window rather than exact dates. There are also games that, while not specifically DC games, will feature the publisher’s characters. MultiVersus is an example of this, as its reveal trailer confirmed at least four playable heroes and villains from the DC Universe, including Harley Quinn, Batman, and Superman.
After most DC video games released over the past decade have focused on Batman, the upcoming slate of titles will provide some much-needed diversity. With titles centered on Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Super-Pets, DC’s video games could catch up with Marvel. Going further, it’s also likely that there are more unannounced DC projects currently in the works, with WB Games Montreal rumored to be working on another title after Gotham Knightsand the potential for NetherRealm to make a third Injustice game also being on the table.
Four of the upcoming DC games, including MultiVersus, are tentatively slated for a 2022 release, though frequent gameplay delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic could shake things up. As game development typically starts and stops multiple times during the pandemic, publishers are likely waiting for titles near the end of development to confirm when they’ll be ready. While additional announcements and cancellations are possible, the DC video game slate has seven total titles released in 2022 and later.
DC Games Coming In 2022 – DC League Of Super-Pets
Associated with an animated film, DC League of Super-Pets: Adventures of Krypto and Ace is slated for a 2022 release, though it doesn’t have a specific date yet. Developed by PHL Collective, the title sees DC League of Super Pets the heroes Krypto and Ace, the canine companions of Superman and Batman, unite to protect the animal population of Metropolis. With the film scheduled for release on May 20, 2022, the video game could hit shelves around the same time.
DC Games Coming in 2022 – MultiVersus
Although this is not a DC exclusive game, MultiVersus – a Smash-style fighting game where players can choose from iconic DC heroes and villains – is slated for release in 2022. In the reveal trailer, game director Tony Huynh showed that Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn will all be playable characters. The announcement confirmed that Player First Games plans to provide continued updates after launch, leaving the door open for more DC characters to join the roster.
DC Games Coming in 2022 – Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Another version 2022, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is being developed by Rocksteady Studios and will take place in the Batman: Arkham universe. The title already differentiates itself from other DC games by featuring a playable cast of villains forced to take down members of a corrupt Justice League. The team of four playable characters consists of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot and King Shark.
Gameplay for the upcoming title was revealed during The Game Awards 2021, featuring Task Force X relying on their shooting skills to take down an evil Flash. The villainous versions of the members of the Justice League aren’t completely foreign to DC video games, as the Injustice The franchise previously portrayed evil iterations of some of the publisher’s most iconic heroes. As a bigger marketing push for the suicide squad game has been enacted over other upcoming DC titles, the likelihood of it making its 2022 release window seems likely.
Gotham Knights is still on track for release in 2022
While rumors of another delayed release date for Gotham Knights appear due to a lack of recent marketing for the project, WB Games Montreal’s Batman spin-off is still slated for a 2022 release window. Gotham Knights will allow players to control Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood to battle the Court of Owls and other Dark Knight villains. Although set in Batman’s iconic city, the title’s narrative centers on the Caped Crusader’s allies – Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood – who escalate after Bruce Wayne’s death.
Promotional illustration published by one of the Gotham Knights branded artists accidentally revealed Spring 2022 as a release window for the title. However, with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League apparently attracting more attention in terms of marketing, it is possible that Gotham Knights will be released after the Task Force X adventure. As none of the titles received more detailed release windows than calendar year 2022, fans will have to wait for more information.
Monolith’s Wonder Woman game has no release date
In addition to a new trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueWB Games also revealed a wonder woman title at The Game Awards 2021. Developed by Monolith Productions, the studio behind the Middle Earth franchise, the teaser that debuted at the awards show featured Diana’s mother calling her home to deal with a new threat in Themiscyra. Hippolyta’s Call also hints that Wonder Woman must “level up” to defeat the enemy, setting up a progressive story featuring some of the hero’s strongest powers.
As very few details emerged after the reveal, the title is likely in early development. Previous DC games announced early in their development cycle tend to take a few years to come to fruition. In any case, a game led by Wonder Woman was long overdue, and given Monolith’s past work on Shadow of Mordor and shadow of warit should hopefully be worth the wait.
DC Games Without Release Date – DC Heroes And Villains
The mobile puzzle game from Ludia Games, DC heroes and villains, will fittingly feature an extensive roster of DC heroes and villains. The game appears to feature the common puzzle mechanics of matching a set of same-colored shapes, but this time to battle opponents from the DC world. A December 14 tweet from the official DC heroes and villains The Twitter account softly confirmed a 2022 release year, though the window itself isn’t mentioned on its website.

As the number of confirmed upcoming DC video games continues to grow, fans can currently expect seven titles to arrive from 2022 and beyond. The next DC game released will likely be DC League of Super-Pets: Adventures of Krypto and Acein the Spring 2022 release window.
