GAME UPDATES: Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday

The Texas Rangers (63-83) open a three-game series with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night with the end of the regular season.

Rangers have already picked up a sixth consecutive losing season and face a myriad of questions in the off-season, not the least of which is the managerial position. Will the club stay with caretaker manager Tony Beasley, bring up someone else within the organization or walk out?

Rangers have likely already begun an internal process to assess what’s out there, but that will certainly change as other teams make potential managerial changes in the near future.

The Angels (64-83) play the string just like the Rangers. In fact, they made their managerial choice much earlier this season, firing Joe Maddon. It remains to be seen whether the former World Series-winning manager is a candidate for the Texas job.

In the meantime, Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe is in contention for the American League batting title, Corey Seager can add to his Major League record 31 homers for a left-handed shortstop and third baseman rookie Josh Jung can continue to compile MLB Experience for 2023.

The set with the Angels is part of a six-game homestand for Texas, as the Rangers host Cleveland Friday through Sunday. This will be the last alumni weekend of the season and will be capped off with a Sunday service in honor of Tom Grieve.

Here’s a preview of tonight’s game.
