Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is on sale at its best price yet for a limited time

Update at 5:19 p.m. ET, April 29: Woot currently has no consoles.

We’ve seen plenty of great deals on Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox Series S console recently, and today is no exception. That’s because Woot is currently selling the console for $249.99 instead of $299.99, which is one of the best prices we’ve seen. Note that you’ll need to download Woot’s mobile app to access this deal, though, and you’ll only get free shipping if you’re an Amazon Prime member.

As the Xbox Series X becomes more readily available these days – it’s available now through the Microsoft Store for $499.99, for example – the Xbox Series S is an affordable alternative that sells for less than half the price. It also plays the same games as the Series X, is backward compatible with original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games, and targets 1440p resolution and up to 120 fps in supported games (upgradable). 4K scale). If you don’t mind that it lacks a disc drive and only offers 512GB of internal storage, this is a smaller, Game Pass-compatible console that you can easily set up at your desk or anywhere else. in your house. Amazon’s tiny second-gen Echo Show 5 is a great smart clock that you can put on your bedside table.

Amazon’s second-gen Echo Show 5 is a great Mother’s Day gift that’s also affordable, especially now that the smart display is selling for nearly half its usual price. Right now, Amazon sells the smart display for $44.99 ($40 off), which is its best price yet. Other retailers including best buyKohl and Target sell it for $49.99.

Mom can use the small 5.5-inch smart display for a variety of purposes, whether as a smart alarm clock for her bedside table or as an entertainment device for listening to music and streaming shows. She can also use the Alexa-enabled smart display to control other smart home devices, get weather reports and more. We also like that it produces robust sound for its size and that its improved 2MP camera comes with a physical shutter to block the view of the camera. Just note, though, that you can’t use this smart display to make Zoom calls. Still, if you’re looking for a relatively affordable smart device, this is a bargain and a freebie worth considering. (Of course, there are plenty of other great gifts that cost about the same if you prefer something else, which you can read more about in our Mother’s Day gift guide.)

Are you looking for an affordable Chromebook? Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet is our top pick for those on a budget, and right now it’s on sale for $249 at Best Buy instead of $299 with the purchase of the model equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Despite its affordable price, the 2-in-1 device looks and feels great, and we like that it offers excellent battery life. In fact, it lasted nearly eleven and a half hours as we made Zoom calls and worked in a variety of tabs and apps, including Gmail, Slack, and Facebook. We also liked that you can easily take the lightweight Chromebook, which comes with a detachable keyboard and kickstand cover, with you as well.

Of course, given its relatively low price, there are a few downsides. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and only offers a single USB-C port. Moreover, its MediaTek Helio P60T processor is not particularly suitable for more advanced tasks than simple navigation and daily work. Still, it offers good value for money, especially with today’s $50 discount. Read our review.

A few more good deals to note

Correction on April 29, 11:32 a.m. ET: this article originally claimed that Vizio’s OLED TV has Google Cast built-in. Although it includes this technology, Google currently calls it “Chromecast built-in”. We have adjusted the terminology in the message and regret the error.

Updated April 29, 4:09 p.m. ET: our primary offer for this item was originally an Xbox Series S bundle, which included an additional Xbox Wireless Controller for $294.99. This offer has since sold out at BuyDig, and we’ve replaced it with Woot’s current Series S offer.
