If you see Leslie Jones at the grocery store, it probably won’t be related to an ABC TV show. The network would have chosen to stop producing the Supermarket sweep TV show.

A game show, Supermarket sweep The television series is hosted by Jones and is the latest iteration of the competition series which debuted in 1965. A fast-paced competition, the show follows teams of two friends or relations. Dressed in iconic colorful sweatshirts, teams compete in back-to-back matches using their grocery shopping skills and knowledge of grocery store products. Teams compete for the chance to enter the “Super Sweep”, a race against time to find five products to win a big cash prize.

Airing on Sunday evenings, the second season of Supermarket sweep averaged a 0.39 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.32 million viewers in Live+ Same Day Ratings. Compared to the first season, this represents a 45% drop in the demo and a 27% drop in viewership in the Live+ same day ratings (including DVR playback until 3:00 a.m.). In Live+7 Days ratings, season two averaged a 0.60 demo with 2.78 million viewers.

Supermarket sweep was not part of ABC’s announcement for the upcoming 2022-23 TV broadcast season and Deadline reports that the network has suspended the game show indefinitely. He might return at some point (in his current incarnation or another) but there are no plans to.

What do you think? Have you been listening to the Supermarket sweep TV series on ABC? Are you happy to hear that the series is over and there are no plans for a third season?
