It’s a return to nostalgia, like Bandai Namco One Piece Odyssey unveiled an extended look at a familiar location in its latest gameplay trailer. Shown at Thai Game Fair 2022the new reel follows the Kingdom of Alabasta teaser released last month and offers a glimpse of what fans can expect from their Expedition.
The space features desert-inspired architectural designs, with sand dwellers like giant scorpions and other creatures roaming the sand dunes outside the city walls. Players will be able to interact with NPCs, undertake various quests, and traverse the world with a grappling hook mechanism that utilizes the elasticity of Luffy’s arm.
In effect, One Piece Odyssey marks a break with the structure of the open world of world seeker and the hack-and-slash thrill of Pirates Warriors 4. The upcoming title is a Full-fledged JPRG, bringing mechanics and elements that fans of the genre should know, such as turn-based combat and bounty hunting. You’ll be able to switch between different party members in a fight, the full roster of which includes the main Straw Hat Pirates crew.
Certain types of attacks are designed to be more effective against others, with characters possessing different special abilities from each other. Chopper, for example, can heal allies, while Zorro is able to unleash a whirlwind of blade attacks. Two new characters, Lim and Audio, are also set to appear in the game.
One Piece Odyssey releases on PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 12, 2023with the Steam version releasing one day after January 13th.
