In the announcement for the event (via Gematsu), organizers described the theme – “Nothing Stops Gaming” – and described 2022 as “the year to show the true spirit of games”, urging everyone to “show your love of games to everyone”. each other” after being forced to “give up doing one fun thing after another for those two years.”

The in-person Tokyo Game Show 2022 will feature all the goodies you’d expect from a giant consumer-facing games expo and convention: merchandise booths, VR and AR areas, booths focused on indie games, conferences by industry professionals, the Japan Game Awards, and Sense of Wonder Night, which invites independent developers to showcase their games in hopes of receiving an award.

There will also be online programming, including an online exhibit venue, booth tour, free game demos from the showfloor, and live streams on Twitch, YouTube, and Twitter of event highlights with English translations available.
