UAB cancels in-person graduation ceremonies and will host online ceremonies
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WIAT) – The UAB has announced that its early summer ceremonies will no longer be held in person.
Three ceremonies that were scheduled to take place in person at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Bartow Arena will now take place virtually due to concerns over COVID-19.

As a result, the start of summer 2021 will take place virtually. “
University Provost said officials regretted that they could no longer organize the events in person.
“We are disappointed and apologize for this change to the special event,” said Benoit. “As we move through the pandemic, we’ve always been ready to make changes quickly to meet the most recent health and safety guidelines and that’s what we need to do now. We are so proud of our students and understand how disappointing this news is. “
Those who were due to graduate this summer will also have the option of crossing the stage at future launch ceremonies.
