After two Corona-related cancellations in 2020 and 2021, the Zürich Game Show reopened in early October with a new name and a new wide range of topics. The soul of the revised concept must be laid down. It highlights what gamers should take action on this and why it should be especially exciting for non-gamers.
In 2017, the Zichuk Spielmesse opened its doors for the first time and then gradually became Switzerland’s flagship event. Although the opening event attracted nearly nine thousand visitors, the organizers increased that number to three thousand players in 2019. But then Corona came along and started a slicker in the works for classic public lounges like the Zürich Game Show. It is so gratifying that the organizers will be back with an on-site event at the town halls of Messe Zürich on the first two days of October 2022.
Pop-Case and Game Show Zürich.
The first major innovation is to celebrate the new fair, in which the competition is not a Zurich Game Show, but an American Popcon. The creators want to highlight the expanded range of topics, which however includes esports and digital entertainment, as well as large-scale music, comics, anime, manga, and K-pop. Second innovation: instead of three, the show will this time only take place over two days. Sunday October 1 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday October 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. With more than 30,000 m² of exhibition space and 240 stands, we are a major gaming and pop culture festival and we expect around 20,000 visitors, explains Anouk Brunner, who is the managing partner of The Amazing event.
Although a visit to both days of the fair is more than interesting, the detailed program of the busy fair is displayed at the top of this page. Let’s start with the games, of course. The organizers were working on the games in halls 3 and 4 of the so-called game zones. The Nintendo Switch is packed with exciting highlights, including the Super Smash Bros. Championships. Ultimate, the Just Dance and more. The Doctors Without Borders group is organized to raise awareness, Brunner continued.

The Speedrun Marathon should be a real treat for longtime game fans. It will be at the same time as the events will take place on both days. On Saturday, you can watch DrogieSR taking all 120 stars in record time in Super Mario 64, looking over Cadarev’s shoulder as he wants to play Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker in just 90 minutes, and Hedweg Marvel as he hunts down 100 pages in just two hours at Yooka Laylee. Sunday at the fair shouldn’t be any less exciting, especially for Switch fans. Because then Applrefreezer wants to completely complete dungeons compiled from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in about 120 minutes, while Blue Harvey plans to fight Metroid Dread in a second longer. The start date of all races is an official website of the Zurich Pop Con & Game Show exhibition.
